Have you ever been the Norton-Simon Museum in Pasadena? They’ve got Van Goghs and Matisses! My favorite part is the Asian art. I think I love Asian art so much because a lot of it looks like jewelry. I’m always in for art I can wear, although I cannot wear those gorgeous pieces.
Sour Cream and Dill Dip for Chips
“This dip is so awesome!” – review by my daughter Neve
1 16 oz sour cream
1 bunch of fresh dill (washed + chopped)
2 garlic cloves (peeled, slightly smashed, and finely chopped)
Juice of ¼ lemon
Ingredients adjustable to taste:
1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon pepper (freshly ground pepper is even better)
1 teaspoon Frank’s Red Hot Sauce
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup fresh parsley or Italian parsley (washed + chopped)
Ruffles Sour Cream and Cheddar
Lay’s Kettle Cooked BBQ
Any tortilla chips
It’s a personal recipe that has evolved from a Ranch sauce recipe that I actually really like, but have transformed slightly into a chip dip. If you’re like me and need more excuses to eat chips, here you go. The hardest part is all the chopping. The easiest part is all the dipping.
I recommend prepping all the ingredients and scooping half the sour cream into a mixing bowl, add half of all the other ingredients. Mix well and taste for saltiness with your intended chip. See if the hot sauce, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce proportions work for you since those flavors can be the most objectionable. If it’s not working, you can make the rest as you please with more or less of the sauces/vinegar and salt/pepper. I would say the garlic is non-negotiable, but of course it is. I’ve also made the dip with just one garlic clove but I prefer it with two. I notice flavored chips are very satisfying with this dip. But with tortilla chips you’ll probably need to add a little more salt. Also, please feel free to recommend your favorite chips with this once you try it…I’ve been stuck on the BBQ kind since this dip’s inception.
My daughter shares a birthday with the fictional hero Harry Potter and the living author J.K. Rowling. This is one of first years I’ve thrown her an actual birthday party with cake + candles, guests, gifts, and games. My god, now I know why I generally don’t do it. It required what felt like a year’s worth of cleaning and organizing. I was pretty into the theme though.Read More
